What i did during gawai (part 1)
okay, so i told some of you guys that i was going to Semanggang, or Seri Aman, or whatever people call it nowadays (yeesh, why they keep changing the name for??)
Anyways, that was the original plan.
Didn't work out though. You see, on the way up to Semanggang-Aman-whatever, we [me & my family lar] stopped by Serian market for breakfast. Lucky we did too. First thing we noticed....
"WHERE THE @#$$% WERE EVERYONE?"
All [well almost all] the shops were closed. Only the kopitiams were open. Whoa. This got me wondering, & i asked my dad in a voice as innocent as possible: "Dad, what can we do in Semanggang?"
"We could always check out the shops there" came the reply.
"You mean those that are actually open for business?"
"...... You have a point there." =_="
One of Sarawak's best toilets...
Still wonder what BN does with our taxes? idiots. Furnish toilet for what???
So anyways we stopped by Ranchan pool for a dip, whilst my dad went to check out the bungalows there for rent. Turns out... "Sudah penuh boss. Esok hari mugkin ada satu bilik lar, tapi ada kipas saje" Damn.
So anyways, it was on the road again. After a while we made a decision in the car... why not Lundu? Yeah, so its like on the other end of Kuching & 100 over kms away, but hey! We got time. Heck, we even stopped by at Matang for lunch.
"Last Resort"... pun most definitely intended.
Approximately 2 hours later, we arrived at Lundu. It was great. Unfortunately, we weren't the only people who thought so... the place was packed! What could we do...?
Than my dad, who apparently knows people from everywhere (hell, he greeted friends at Matang, Lundu, Sematan, even kopitiam taukehs... freaky) went straight to the owner of the beach front chalets (aka beach front sheds with minimum space & no water supply...) Turns out the owner was the second wife of my father's collegue [she was a Malay... duh.]
She told us the sheds were fully booked, & wonderred if we wanted to stay in her house, since it was right in front of the beach too, & was quite comfy compared to those pathetic huts.
Hell yeah.
the living room. Also where we slept that night
the sitting room. my mum LOVED & ADORED those ratan furniture. turns out they were from indon though...
Ahem....
The beach was fantastic. Too bad my camera wasn't water proof. took a few of the beach front. There was a cozy area in front of the canteen, right under a few coconut trees. Nice.
dad fooling around...
Lol, swam until evening in the sea, damn nice sunset... but... my cam... haiz
Anywayz, end of day one. day two coming soon.
