Thomas The Saint... "AIM HIGHER"

Like i said yesterday, St. Thomas is nice building-wise... its European-style buildings, its Gardens... bla bla bla... One thing i failed to mention yesterday though, was a monument situated right outside the library block. There's this odd-creation of cement blocks painted red, black & yellow known as "the Square" (since it was all squarish, it sorta made sense). According to the 'tour-guides' (prefects with no sense of humor), if you stood at a distance & traced the blocks according to colour, it formed the letters A, I & M, spelling the first half of the school's motto. I cheekily added that the "Higher" part was where us ex-Highians came in, where the prefect giving the breifing gave me a friendly pat on the back [she's ex-highian btw, heheh]

What caught my attention the most though, was the prefect saying that each poligon cement slab on the grounds were Rm1000 each. What the... RM1000 for a lousy cement shape? than i understood. those slabs served as memorials for people who donate more than RM1000 to the school. So far, only 6 slabs were covered with an aluminuim plate engraved with names of past donours... these guys were nuts, they pratically paid a nice grand for people to step on their names... idiots. the concept was cool though, a sort of "St Thomian" hollywood walk of the stars. No way i'm paying Anybody RM1000 to step on my name though... i can always write my name in chalk & have it for free. XD

Than we went pass the old school hostel, where my dad used to stay in when he was a student here... it was located right next to the church's cemetary..... no wonder my dad's not afraid of ghosts... he pratically slept with them!

One thing i hate about the school though... it's friggin' rules & regulations. St thomas's school is famous for its stiff rules & unbendable laws. The principal's word is law, no exceptions. Its !@#!@ frustrating. The school practices the merit-demerit system, which is incredibly straining to almost anyone's patience. The system's fairly simple...
25 demerits, parents are called to school
50 demerits, students are suspended for a week
75 demerits, students are suspended for TWO weeks
100 demerits, permanent suspension [aka expell lah]
Nobody except the REEAALLLLYYYY ta-cheh type can live with the rules. Everyday, at the front gate before class starts, every student is inspected by prefects, who btw have the power to give demerits, meaning offending them is suicide. each of them can give at least 5 demerits each... & some of them are really the irritating stuck-up power crazy type [not pointing any fingers here] whats worse, they check us AGAIN during reccess. Hello? As if anyone's hair & fingernails can grow back in 3 friggin' hours?

Guys have it the worse i think.
Firstly there's the issue of hair. Last time at good ol' khs, Mr. Andrew Chan juz came by to give us our monthly sideburn & back hair inspection. We could keep our front hair long, provided it was neat in school. some guys just tucked their side-burns behind their ears & nothing would happen. In St. Thom though, everyone's hair had to look like freshly mowed lawns. Haiz... So everyone's walking around with chinese-fan shaped hair.
Hair touches collar? Foul. Hair touches ear lobe? Foul. Fringe lingering close to eyebrows? Foul.
feels like i'm in a badly refereed football match with a penalty-friendly offical.

@#$%!!! Girls? "tie neatly with a ribbon." [-_-"]

Then, there's the issue of the St Thom Belt. Every guy, whether they like it or not, has to purchase a green belt with the thomian logo. Girls? they don't wear belts... so they're excused. So much for equality.

The tie's ok. problem is, again, girls can choose to wear baju kurung, which is not only more comfy, they won't need a tie either. @#$%

In the canteen, guys & girls cant share tables, meaning that if all the tables are filled & a table that seats 20 is occupied by 2 measely females, we cant sit there either. Call me chauvanist pig, But to all u feminists out there: YOU WANT EQUALITY? WORK FOR IT! @#$%$! shoot. i'm cranky today aren't i.

SK, c'mon, gimme a break... besides harrasing u, what else could i do to stay awake? i was bored!

Oh, & to my FRIENDS complaining there's no photos: You guys have enough money to replace my digital camera if its confisticated? No one in their right minds would bring a camera to this school!

p/s, one funny rule discovered in the school rule book: "berasmara di sekolah, mata demerit 50." So 'consuming the illegal fruit' only gets u suspended for one week? & Yet Swearing any four lettered words is worth 25 demerits? The guy who wrote the rules has no sense of balance. seriously, what was he thinking? LMAO
